Biometric documents

BIOMETRIC PASSPORT:

  • Every citizen applying for a biometric passport must fulfil the following conditions:
  • Applying for a passport for the first time is subject to prior consular registration,
  •  The applicant, except children under 12 years, must be present when submitting the application and collecting the passport.

General Information:

  • The validity of the biometric passport is 10 years for adults and 5 years for minors under 19,
  • The biometric passport is an individual document. As a result, minors must hold an individual passport,
  •  Personal attendance is required for photograph taking and fingerprint data collection,
  • The presence of children under 12 years is not required either when submitting the application or when collecting the passport. These two operations can now be performed by the child’s legal guardian,
  • The photos taken at the consular section is the one that will be put on the biometric passport except for children under 12 years. However, the photos provided must meet the required standards,
  • As the consular section don’t make copies, please provide copies of all original documents

 REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

  • The application form  duly filled and signed by the applicant or by the legal guardian for minors,
  • The valid consular registration card,
  • The original applicant’s special extract of birth certificate ’12s’,
  • Proof of legal residence in Ireland such as: (leave to remain, student visa, work permit visa, Irish passport). For those holding other European passport, please provide the blue card from the home office,
  •  A copy of the blood type card or certificate,
  • Four (04) standard passport-size photos. Photos must be recent, frontal-view, of the same batch, taken on white background, no glasses of any kind, (please write the name and surname at the back),
  • A copy of a proof of address (any utility bill),
  • The work certificate or certificate of enrolment for students or school children,
  •  Payment of the passport fees, (for the time being we accept Cash only):

FOR ADULTS:

  • 28-page ordinary passport: 60€
  • 48-page ordinary passport 120 €

LOST, STOLEN, OR DAMAGED PASSPORT: 

If a passport is lost, damaged, or stolen, the applicant must report it immediately at his/her local police station and to the consular section of the embassy, where he/she can apply for a new passport.

The replacement passport is issued after the cancellation of the lost, damaged, or stolen one. This process can take several months.

In addition to the documents listed above, please provide:

  • Lost property form issued by local police station,
  •  If the passport is lost or stolen, a declaration of loss or theft must be included in the application,
  •  Payment of an additional fee as a penalty,
  • Letter explaining in detail how the passport has been damaged.

NOTES:

  • The consular section will inform the applicant of the date of his/her/their appointment to proceed to the biometric       enrolment,
  • Once the passport is ready, the consular section makes an appointment to pick it up,
  • It should be noted that in accordance with art. 10 of the law n° 14-03 of 24 Rabie Ethani 1435 corresponding to 24 February 2014 relating to permits and travel documents: ″Any passport drawn up and not withdrawn by its holder is destroyed six (06) months after the date of the notice of withdrawal.

RENEWAL OF THE BIOMETRIC PASSPORT:

The application for renewal of the passport was possible in the following cases: 

  • During the six months preceding its expiration,
  • If it is confirmed that it is impossible to place new visas on the papers for this purpose,
  • When declaring the passport missing for the reasons described above.

Documents required:

  • The application form duly filled and signed by the applicant or by the legal guardian for minors,
  • The original of the Algerian expired biometric passport,
  • The valid consular registration card,
  • The original applicant’s special extract of birth certificate ’12s’,
  • Proof of legal residence in Ireland (leave to remain, student visa, work permit visa, Irish passport). For those holding other European passport, please provide the blue card from the home office,
  • Four (04) photos comply with required standards (please write the name and surname at the back),
  • The work certificate or certificate of enrolment for students or school children,
  • A copy of a proof of address (any utility bill),
  • Payment of the passport fees: (30 €), for Students and Children under 19 and (60 €) for others, (we accept only cash for the time being).
